Teddies for Tragedies
a group of enthusiastic knitters joined a project
‘Teddies for Tragedies’
This project was in aid of children in hospitals in Rwanda and other countries where there were conflicts.
Doctors without Borders maintained that
“children with a toy got better quicker than those without”
We were given a pattern and a contact in the UK.
Knitting started in earnest.
Over the following years we have continued the good work.
Unfortunately the number of knitters has dwindled and the contact in the UK passed away, but the enthusiasm continues.
Today the few teddies we manage to make go to 2 hospitals in the Durham area.
Some are distributed to mothers with new born babies others are put in the hospital reception with a ‘note’
If anyone would like to make a teddy
